Hi, I'm Melissa.

I've loved socks since I was a kid. The drawer full of them, the way a good pair makes a regular morning feel a little more like a plan. I never thought it would become anything more than that.

For years I bartended in New York City. The shifts were long and the conversations were honest — strangers telling me about bad weeks, big dreams, quiet doubts. I started thinking about what it would feel like to wrap encouragement around something ordinary. Something you put on without thinking.

In 2019, the idea took a shape: socks with affirmations. Real ones. The kind you'd say to a friend at the end of a hard week. Then 2020 happened and everything paused — for the world, and for me.

My mom kept asking about it. Gently. Then less gently. She told me people needed exactly this right now, and that I owed it to the idea to try. She's usually right.

Matchy Mates launched soon after. Three designs to start — Believe In You, You've Got This, Own Your Magic. Knit in soft combed cotton, designed in New York, sent out into the world one drawer at a time.
